[CCHS-2008] CCHS AOL Problems

Hi All,

I know several of you continue to be frustrated by our inability to communicate school wide emails through AOL.  For that, I am sorry!  I wanted to share with you an email that I received today from Gene Warfel, the Director of Information Technology for the CCRSD and CPS.  He has been working tirelessly with AOL for several weeks attempting to get the problem resolved.  He has done every test, every check, every tweak that they have suggested, convinced all along that the problem resides with AOL.  Read on and you will see that he has gone so far as to bring in outside resources to combat the problem, but to no avail thus far.  Here is the latest and not very hopeful update:

I have showed AOL that there is no "compromised script"  running on the
listserve computer.  They have so far refused to remove the block.  I have
asked an outside security vendor to run a scan and report the findings. 
Nothing was found.  Still AOL did not remove the block.  I have asked the
security service to contact AOL Postmaster directly and convince them to
remove the block.  I have not heard back about that.

This is an AOL policy.  Its their fault, not ours.  I would recommend
parents not use AOL for listserver communication.  In fact if they cancel
their AOL accounts that might send a message to AOL that they need to stop
their arbitrary and unwarranted blocking of emails coming from listservers.
