Dear Senior,
Graduation is rapidly approaching and I am sending this letter to you so
that you will have all of the information you will need to prepare for
rehearsals, graduation, senior week activities, and much more.
The class of 2008 has distinguished itself in numerous ways, too many to
detail here. I hope you will continue your outstanding contributions to
CCHS right through graduation day.
Your class officers, class day and prom committees, class advisors, and
parent reps have been working very hard to prepare for senior week and
coordinate all of the special activities.
To be certain you are aware of all the pertinent information concerning the
end of the year and senior week activities, the following information
summary is being sent to you. Please share this with your parents. If you
or they have any questions, contact your class advisors, Ms. Giunta in the
math department and Mr. McGrath in the health and fitness department.
The end of senior year should be a joyous time that includes appropriate
celebration. Please understand that the consequences for inappropriate
modes of celebration or inappropriate behavior are very serious, including
exclusion from graduation and/or other graduation week activities. I
sincerely ask your cooperation in this regard so that neither of us is
placed in an uncomfortable position. You can read the exact rules and
regulations in the Student/Parent Handbook.
Thank you for all you have done to make CCHS as wonderful as it is. Best
wishes for a successful end of the year, a good senior week, and a happy
graduation.
Sincerel
y,
Peter

Attire and Conduct at Graduation
ATTIRE - All students eligible to participate in the graduation ceremony and
who choose to participate will wear a cap and gown (the gown is worn closed)
under which shall be appropriate attire such as:
1. Dress or a blouse and skirt dress sandals or shoes (white, if
possible) for women.
2. A shirt, slacks or trousers, shoes and socks for men
Jeans, shorts, beach thongs, sneakers, and bare feet are not appropriate for
the graduation ceremony. Any student who has a question concerning the
guidelines or who is experiencing difficulty in meeting these guidelines
should see his/her class advisor at least one week prior to the date of the
graduation ceremony. The advisor will clarify any questions and provide
assistance to those who are experiencing difficulty in meeting the
guidelines.
The class advisors and their faculty assistants will be responsible to
ensure that all students participating in the graduation ceremony are
dressed appropriately according to these guidelines. Any student who is
found by the class advisor(s) to be flagrantly disregarding the guidelines
after having been given an opportunity to explain his/her side of the story
to the class advisor and to correct the identified problem prior to leaving
the school for the field, will not be allowed the privilege of participating
the graduation ceremony. Once on the field for the ceremony, a student
found to have altered his/her attire, so as to no longer be following the
guidelines, (such as having removed his/her shoes) will be given the
opportunity to correct the situation so that he/she may proceed to the
podium to receive his/her diploma. If a student so found does not correct
the situation, his/her name will not be read for reception of a diploma.
Any student who is denied the privilege of participating in the graduation
ceremony, or whose name is not read for the reason noted above, will receive
his/her diploma at a time other than that of the graduation ceremony, such
time to be specified by the school principal.
CONDUCT - The school rules and regulations as clarified in the statement
School Rules and Regulations with Respect to Senior Week Activities will be
in effect. Any student who has been reported to have engaged in any of the
behaviors as outlined in this statement will be given the opportunity to
present his/her side of the story to the school principal or his designee.
The school principal or his designee will determine if the student is to be
denied the privilege of participating in the graduation ceremony. This
decision and the reasons for it will be communicated in writing to the
student and the students parent(s) or guardian(s). Any student who is
denied the privilege of participation in the graduation ceremony for
behavior reasons will receive his/her diploma at a time other than the
graduation ceremony, that time to be specified to the student by the school
principal.

The Yearbook Dedication ceremony is currently anticipated to take place in
the library at 2:15 p.m. on May 27th and you are invited to attend. The
2008 Yearbook will be available for distribution to SENIORS ONLY at the
Pancake Breakfast currently anticipated to take place on May 28th in the
cafeteria at 6:30 a.m. or after school beginning at 2:30 p.m.
Graduation Invitations will be available on May 1st from Mrs. Tessari in the
transcript office. Five invitations will be reserved for each graduate
through May 30th. After May 30th, graduates may request additional
invitations, from Mrs. Coleman and requests will be honored on a
first-come-first-served basis as long as the supply lasts. Please note that
you may invite as many people as you wish to graduation. They do not need an
engraved invitation to enter the field or in case of rain, the upper gym.
All graduates will receive special rain tickets with your cap and gown.
Rain Tickets will be limited, and if they are lost, they cannot be replaced.
Cap and Gowns will be distributed June 3rd to those who ordered them.
Without a cap and gown a student WILL NOT be permitted to participate in the
graduation ceremony. The cap and gown are yours to keep.
Graduation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on June 7, 2008, and will be held rain or
shine. All graduating seniors should report to the lower gym no later than
1:00 p.m. The ceremony should last about one hour and a half, including the
reception following in the lower gym area. The after graduation all-night
celebration ALL NIGHT LIVE! will begin at 9:30 p.m. Please watch for more
information from the planning committee and plan to come.
Clothing Advice may be found in the ATTIRE & Conduct section on the
previous page. We suggest that you select lightweight clothing, especially
if we have a sunny day.
Reserved Seating will be provided only for Senior Citizens and Handicapped
persons who are unable to use the grandstands. It will be necessary to
reserve seating in advance so that we may provide sufficient chairs in front
of the grandstands. If you wish to reserve seating for this purpose, please
call Mrs. Coleman at the school (978-341-2490 x7101) no later than June 2nd
. Only participants in the graduation ceremony are to be on the football
field.
If graduation is held indoors, there will be no reserved seating section.
Graduates should report to the lower gym by 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 7,
2008 to line up for graduation. Please do not bring purses, cameras,
sweaters, etc. since there is no place to store them. If your family or
friends will be giving you flowers for graduation, please wait until after
the ceremony to accept them. Please ask your family and friends to go
directly to the field (or upper gym in case of rain) and NOT to the lower
gym.
No one is allowed in the lower gym except for participating graduates and
faculty.
A Reception sponsored by the Class of 2009 for graduates, family and friends
will be held in the lower gym parking lot (inside in the lower gym if it
rains) immediately following the graduation ceremony.
A Professional Photographer has been engaged specifically for graduation and
will take photographs of all seniors as you receive your diploma. There is
no obligation to purchase this picture. If you wish to take advantage of
the photo offer from the photographer, you should follow the directions in
the materials that will be sent to you under a separate cover. A video
broadcast of graduation will be done by Cablevision. Please remind your
family and friends that we ask that they remain in their seats rather than
come to the field to take pictures when diplomas are awarded. The only
photographers on the field will be the press, the professional photographer
(who will take your individual picture) and the camera operators from
Cablevision. *
