Dear Parents,
Welcome back from April vacation! We hope you had
a pleasant week off. Because many parents have
asked us about the Sophomore Semi, we have put
together the following information. Please feel
free to call or email if you have any questions.
We hope to see you at the Parent Social!
Cathy, Claudia, Kathy, Anne and Patty
Sophomore Semiformal A primer for parents
When Saturday, May 5 from 7:30-10:30 P.M.
Where CCHS Cafeteria
What - The Sophomore Semi is the sophomores dressy spring dance.
* Students can go alone, bring dates, or
attend with a group of friends. Dates from
another class or a different school are common.
* Dress: The dress code is semi-formal. For
example, boys may choose to wear a navy blazer
and gray or tan pants, or a suit. Girls may
choose something along the lines of a short
dressy dress (the cocktail dress of an earlier era).
* Flowers: Many girls receive a small wrist
corsage and boys receive a boutonnière. If your
child is going alone or with a group of friends,
it is quite acceptable for the parents to get their child flowers.
* Transportation: Most commonly, parents drop off and pick up.
* Photos: In addition to photos taken at
home, there is a professional photographer at the
dance. Professional photos are optional, but must
be prepaid and purchased that night.
Parents - While the students dance the night
away, parents are invited to a potluck supper at
the Hechts house on Bristers Hill Road
(abutting the school). As Patty and Ken have
generously offered to provide the core of the
dinner, advance reservations are necessary and
guests will be asked to bring beverages,
appetizers or desserts. More information about
the potluck will follow as the date approaches.
