[CCHS-2009] "THANKS!" FOR SEMI

It was amazing to see the cafeteria become “the 
Secret Garden’, this year’s theme for the 
sophomore semi. It was just beautiful.  More than 
350 kids filled the garden, all so handsomely and 
beautifully dressed.  A good time was had by all.

So many parents and kids helped to make this such 
a successful event. Many kudos go to Julie 
Anastos and Cheryl Stakutis for being the parent 
chairs for this event. The class members painted 
the lovely flowers on the windows. Thank you to 
Lindsey Burns, Deb and Rick Beineke, Bev 
Castrichini, Carol Cataldo, Karen Doolittle, 
Paige Evett, Michelle Kinsman, Linda Pettingell, 
Maryanne Street, Kerry Taylor, and  Karen Verrill 
for making the transformation from cafeteria to café in the garden.

A special thank you goes to Terry and Pete 
Mahoney for lending and delivering so many 
beautiful trees and plants from their nursery for 
the garden. Also thank you to Carolyn Prohovich 
for her help in obtaining flowers.

Also thanks to Cheryl Stakutis, her son Chad and 
his friend Stephen Sample for planting all those 
pansies at the semi in the courtyard. The 
courtyard will lock so lovely for the reception 
for the junior prom sponsored by our class. Thanks again.

The food portion was chaired by Katie 
Green-thanks Katie for your work and planning. 
Many hands created those lovely topiaries and hundreds of fruit kabobs.

Thanks to Cynthia Ellis, Rita Bissonette-Clark, 
Jeanne DeTemple, Kathy Robey, Nancy Ryan, Diane 
Sneider, Carolyn Steel, Roseanne Swain, Kerry 
Taylor, Cindy Tenner and Diane Wesselhoeft. The 
baked good were plentiful –thanks to Tricia 
Basque, Beth Christman, Francie Crowley, Denise 
Ghazey,  Gina King, Rose Lee, Terry Ruhlmann, 
Bunny Santullo, LaTeischa Scales, and Stacy 
Waniga.  Nancy Birchard, Pat Brewer, Francie 
Crowley, Kathe Falzer, Yvette Gooding, Gina King, 
Kathleen Sills and Stacy Waniga kept the kids 
hydrated with all the water. Thank you.

Thanks to all the teachers who so graciously 
chaperoned. Here is a comment from one that was received:

“Hello Ms. Feeney! I just wanted to thank you and 
other parents for all your hard work for the 
sophomore semi. The students were so happy and 
excited last night, it was great to see their 
enthusiasm! The $25 gift cards and the food 
plates at the end of the night was unexpected and 
definitely appreciated by all teacher chaperones.

Thank you to Meena Rajgopal and the other 
freshman parents for handling the food table and 
pouring all that water. Thanks to Laurie Cadigan 
for helping to package all the left overs to send 
them home with kids and staff.

Another special thank you goes to Ken and Patty 
Hecht for hosting the parent social during the 
semi. A nice time was had by all.  Thanks so much.
