[CCHS-2011] Junior Prom Information for Parents Tonight!

Dear CCHS Parents in the Class of 2011,
The junior prom should be a wonderful moment for the CCHS Class of 2011.  However, many students are experiencing mixed emotions and have strong feelings in relation to tonight's event after the tragic loss of a classmate.  There will be many adults-CCHS teachers, staff and guidance counselors-present at the prom tonight to help out and support the students if they need it.
If you notice that your child or any of their friends are having difficulties before the prom, please make one of the school staff members aware at the Red Carpet event.
Over the weekend, if your child needs the support of a health professional, please consult your pediatrician or a mental health provider.  And if you believe that any immanent harm may face your child or one of their friends, do not hesitate to call 911 or go to your local emergency room.
If you continue to have concerns that are not immediately urgent, please do not hesitate to contact the guidance department on Monday.
To keep this special celebration safe and healthy:
Know Your Teens' Plans and tell them to update you if the itinerary changes so you're aware of their whereabouts. Make sure that they can reach you-keep your cell phone on and close at hand.

It's OK to Check In With Them before and after the dance via text - they are more likely to reply, since it's discreet.

Trust Your Teens and though you generally resist the urge to hover, this may be an occasion to keep close to them and their group of friends.

For a safe Prom Night, please don't serve alcohol to teens.  Celebrating does not require drinking or drugs-which can put them and you at risk.
