To all parents,
I have had teachers read information regarding an incident that occurred
on campus yesterday.to all students and wanted to share that with you.
What you read below is accurate information. The Concord Journal will be
publishing an article which I have no opportunity to read, review, or
otherwise comment upon. Thus I have no idea what they will be writing. I
wanted you to know what happened in a way that recognizes your right to
know and also protects the rights of the student involved. Arthur Dulong
Yesterday the administration learned that there was a possibility that a
student had a gun on campus. Upon learning this I immediately requested
police presence on campus, made an assessment of a potential dangers, and
took steps to isolate that student from others. An investigation followed
that did result in the discovery of an unloaded BB gun, which was a
replica gun. The police removed this student from campus. At no time was
any student in danger.
I need to emphasize to all students that the possession at school of a
weapon or any other item that could be deemed dangerous is a violation of
Massachusetts State Law and an obvious violation of school rules and
regulations. There is absolutely nothing that I take more seriously than
my obligation to provide a safe and orderly environment for all students
and staff. The Student and Parent Handbook provides clear definition of
the seriousness with which we will deal with matters of safety.
Again, I want to assure you of your safety before, during, and after the
incident. I also want to assure you of my pledge to do everything in my
power to ensure that CCHS will continue to be a wonderful, supportive
environment in which students can thrive.
