Hello Everyone,
I thought I'd take this opportunity to alert you to two very interesting
and current sources of information regarding the college application
process.

The November Issue of The Atlantic Monthly is devoted to the topic. there
are several articles of interest including "The New College Chaos" and
"What Makes a Good College". I highly recommend it as interesting reading
for anyone in the process or soon to be in the process. I believe you can
find the magazine at lost newsstands.

The second is harder to access for the general public. Connection
magazine, which is subtitled The Journal of the New England Board of
Higher Education, has devoted it Fall 2003 (Volume XVIII, Number 2) issue
to the topic of college affordability. The email address of the
organization is connection at nebhe.org. They have no specific web site but
summaries and abstracts of their articles can be found at www.nebhe.org. A
very brief summary is that college costs in New England are rising faster
than in any other part of the country and the colleges are beginning to
worry about pricing themselves out of the market for most folks.
Obviously, there is a great deal more in the magazine.
