Dear CCHS Families,
>From all who bring you electronic communications from CCHS, welcome to the 2004-2005 academic year! We are glad to have you on our distribution list and are certain that you will find the information to be helpful and interesting. Please remember that CCHS does not mail newsletters or notices, so THIS IS YOUR LIFELINE TO THE SCHOOL.
As the list administrator, I want to take this opportunity to share some basic information about our list serve.
First, since you are receiving this email, you should rest assured that you are subscribed to the service. Should you receive future requests to 'subscribe to the CCHS list serve', (such as the notices and reminders in the back to school packages or repeated pleas at school functions) you can ignore them. You are successfully subscribed. You can help us to further build the system by encouraging others CCHS parents to subscribe as well.
Next, should you suddenly stop receiving communications from us, you should begin to wonder why. Your subscription will remain active until your student graduates from CCHS....UNLESS:
.....you unsubscribe to the service (instructions provided on each email that you receive)
.....your email address changes or becomes disabled.
You are responsible for changing your email address on the list serve as needed. It will not and cannot be done by the class moderators or the list administrator. Instructions for changing your address can be found at the same website at which you requested your subscription initially (http://www.lists.ptg-concord.org/mailman/listinfo). Your subscription may also cease if your address repeatedly fails to accept our mail. This could happen if your mailbox is often full, if your spam blocker doesn't allow CCHS addresses to be received (especially common with AOL users) or if your server has frequent problems. If you think you have been dropped from the list because of a problem on your end, please resubscribe and start again. The easy remedy is to check your mail often, unblock CCHS addresses from your spam files and keep your system well maintained.
Throughout the year you will be hearing from a variety of sources within the CCHS community. Each CCHS author can be easily identified by having 'CCHS' in his/or sender address. Please note that all CCHS lists are confidential and are used exclusively for school related communications. The following list will help you to meet some of the folks on the other end of the keyboard:
'Moderators' are the hardworking and helpful volunteers who coordinate the communications for each individual class. You will receive class specific bulletins and announcements only for the class that you have subscribed to, not all four classes at CCHS (phew!) Your class moderator will keep you informed of class activities, class trips, class meetings and other pertinent information. Notices can be sent only by the designated moderator and is done at her discretion. Class and parent advisors work closely with the moderators to keep the information pipeline current and meaningful.
The class moderator for 2008 is Anne Wagner. Anne can be reached via email at: wagneranne at comcast.net
The class moderator for 2007 is Jan McGinn. Jan can be reached at: McGinn.Jan at verizon.net
The class moderator for 2006 is Sandra Arena. Sandra can be reached at: sarena at erols.com
The class moderator for 2005 is Karen Ippilito. She can be reached at: kmippolito at comcast.net
Our goal across the system is to send you an email only when necessary. Our hope is that you find the information to be timely, helpful and informative, NOT overwhelming. Of course, each subscriber has different standards and thresholds for 'overwhelming' and 'necessary'. We understand your perspective and hope that you understand ours!
Having said that, each afternoon you will receive 'The Daily Announcements' from Sharon Trainor (CCHS Administrative Secretary to the Vice Principals). The daily announcements are very brief bullet-type statements that are read to all students the following morning. It will include items such as meetings for the day, schedule changes, club and activity information, etc.. The feedback from parents last year was that the daily bulletin became an invaluable tool in most households. While daily may seem to fall in the overwhelming category, the announcements are short and sweet and take only a minute to review.
Once a week, generally on Fridays, you will receive the CCHS CHIT-CHAT, a bulletin which applies to the entire CCHS population and will help you to plan ahead. Again, it is short, concise, easy to read and very informative. This year's CHIT-CHAT editor is Anne Wagner (yes, the same Anne Wagner as the 2008 class moderator.....thanks Anne). Items for distribution should be emailed to Anne at cchschitchat at comcast.net by noon on Thursdays for distribution the following day. Again, the feedback last year was that the CHIT-CHAT was a wonderful way to capture a week's worth of 'scoop' in a flash.
Monthly, you will receive the CCHS newsletter from Louisa Coleman (CCHS Senior Administrative Secretary to the Principal). Louisa compiles and distributes information from a variety of sources such as Art Dulong, Diane Payne, President of the PTG, the Guidance Department, and the School Nurse. She also captures calendar changes and reminders, looming deadlines, information from the School Committee and much more. Many parents find it helpful to print the newsletter and read it at their leisure. It is chock full of great information. If you wonder why you aren't hearing about SAT test dates, exam schedules, the driver's education program, policy changes or other critical tid-bits, it's because you haven't read the newsletter!
On an as needed basis, you will also receive time sensitive notes or announcements from Art Dulong, Brenda Finn or other members of the administrative staff. When you receive one of these, read it immediately. It is guaranteed to include something that the administration wants to get into your hands NOW.
Others involved in keeping us connected are me, (Karen Sabatino) the List Administrator. I coordinate the system and do my best to help parents navigate the often scary, unknowns associated with having a high schooler. My mission is to replace the notices that no longer come home in back packs, fill in the periods of silence and monosyllabic grunts that our teens call communication and give us all a heads up for when we're expected to somehow have all the answers. Lastly, there is Scott Lawrence, our technical guru, who works tirelessly behind the scenes to keep us all afloat. If you have comments or questions about the list serve, please don't hesitate to contact me at CCHS at comcast.net
On behalf of the entire List Serve team, we welcome you....or welcome you back.....to another wonderful year of on-line communications from CCHS.
Sincerely,
Karen Sabatino
CCHS List Administrator
