+++++ FINCOM PUBLIC HEARING ON WILLARD DESIGN +++++
The Town Meeting Article #24 for design funds for a new Willard School
will be presented at a Fincom/School Committee Public Hearing on
Tuesday, March 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the Alcott School Auditorium. During
the meeting, the public will have an opportunity to obtain information
on the condition of Willard and financial implications, as well as ask
questions. The hearing assists Town Boards and Committees in making
decisions about their recommendations to voters at Town Meeting,
beginning April 25. Please come -- Willard is looking for at least 200
people to demonstrate support for the article. Now is the time when you
can make a difference to ensure a better education for Concord children.
Go to www.buildwillard.org for more information, as well as additional
coffees and presentations scheduled.
+++++ SUMMER OPPORTUNITIES FAIR DIRECTORIES +++++
Any parent or student who was unable to attend the recent CCHS Summer
Opportunities Fair can pick up a directory that lists the names, contact
information, and a
brief description of each program and organization that exhibited at the
fair
this year. The directories are on the Summer Opportunities bookshelf in the
guidance office.
+++++ WEST SIDE STORY +++++
Students at Concord-Carlisle High School have been preparing for the
musical West Side Story since the beginning of January. The crew has
been building and painting sets, the cast has been learning dances and
songs, and the musicians have been rehearsing Leonard Bernstein's great
score. The show runs the first two weekends in March. Performances will
be March 4, 5, 11 and 12 at 7:30 p.m. and March 6 and 13 at 2:30 p.m. in
the CCHS Auditorium. All tickets are for reserved seating and are $15.
To order tickets go to www.ccpops.org.
+++++ FILM SERIES FOR PARENTS OF TEENS +++++
The Center for Parents and Teachers is sponsoring a film series for
parents of teens during the month of March.
On Thursday, March 3, "Day for Night, Recognizing Teen Depression" will
offer an in-depth look at the signs, symptoms, and treatment of teenage
depression. This film, from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, is
shown to all CCHS students in their freshmen year. This workshop
continues the dialogue that began at the community forum on Teen
Depression and Suicide, and reinforces the importance of knowing how to
detect early warning signs of depression in your child in order to take
positive action.
On March 16, "Communicating with Your Teen: Ideas for Effective
Discipline and Relationship Building," offers concrete steps for guiding
your teen using clear, honest communication and respectful discipline.
This film is from the "Active Parenting of Teens" video library.
Films will be followed by a time for discussion facilitated by Kelli
Kirshtein, CCHS Adjustment Counselor. These sessions will be held from 7
to 9 p.m. in the Little Theater at CCHS. Fee: $15 per session. To
register, please call the Center at 978 202-1146; or send payment
directly to the Center for Parents and Teachers, 120 Meriam Road,
Concord, MA 01742.
+++++ ST. PATRICK'S DAY LUNCH FOR SENIOR CITIZENS +++++
The CCHS Senior Class will serve a St. Patrick's Day lunch to Senior
Citizens on Saturday, March 12, at noon in the CCHS school cafeteria. Parent
volunteers are needed to help in the cafeteria. Shifts are from 9 a.m. to
noon, and noon to 3 p.m. Student volunteers are needed to serve for both
