+++++ GRADUATION RECEPTION VOLUNTEERS NEEDED +++++

Volunteers are needed for the graduation reception to be held on June 4
immediately following graduation. This event is hosted by the junior
class. We
are in MUCH need of assistance from Junior Class Parents (and are grateful
for volunteers from the Sophomore and Freshman parents as well). Anyone
who
can volunteer the day of the reception (11 to 1 p.m., 1 to 3 p.m., 3 to
5 p.m.) or
the week before the reception (picking up /storing supplies, BAKING
COOKIES!), or who would like to make a monetary donation to the Junior
class to
offset the cost of the reception is asked to please contact Mary Ann
Gorman
(GormanMAnn at aol.com).

+++++ TEEN DRINKING -- WHAT EVERY PARENT NEEDS TO KNOW +++++

On Monday, May 9, at 7:15 p.m. in the CCHS auditorium, a panel discussion
will be held. Participating on the panel will be a member of the
Concord Police force, CCHS Principal Art Dulong, an attorney, an emergency
room physician, an adolescent therapist, and the parent of a recent CCHS
graduate.
Teen drinking continues to be a concern both in our community and across
the
nation and, as the parents and caregivers of teens, we need to be
informed about this issue. We also need to work together to keep our
teens safe, particularly as we enter the prom and graduation season.
Please try to be a part of this vitally important discussion by
attending the forum. This
event is sponsored by the Alliance for Teen Safety and Concord Carlisle
Parent Initiative.

+++++ GREELEY FOUNDATION PRESENTS SPELL-BINDING ZUMIX +++++

The Dana Greeley Foundation for Peace and Justice is proud to sponsor an
appearance of the ZUMIX ENSEMBLES on Friday, May 13 at 7 p.m., at CCHS.
The three ensembles -- the DiverCity Band, a guitar ensemble, and
vocalists -- comprise young musicians, dancers, and electronic and
rhythm artists from East Boston. They present spell-binding concerts of
their own compositions and choreography, meticulously executed and
strikingly original. In this concert they will perform a broad program
spanning an array of musical styles from pop to hip-hop, classical,
reggae, and more. Joining ZUMIX in this concert will be SERIOUS
REPERCUSSIONS, a magnificent ensemble comprising uncommonly talented and
versatile CCHS percussionists. They perform rhythms from around the
world with a dazzling variety of drums and other percussion instruments.
This performance benefits the Dana Greeley Foundation for Peace and
Justice, a donor-supported charitable foundation funding grass-roots
organizations in the Greater Boston area that directly serve at-risk
youth. Tickets for this performance are $20 for adults and $10 for
students. They may be obtained by mail from The Greeley Foundation, 33
Bedford Street, Concord, MA 01742, by calling the office at
978-369-7386, or by e-mail at zumixevent at greeleyfoundation.org.
