Good afternoon,

I hope the first week of summer has been all you had hoped for. Here at
school we have been working on a number of things. One of those things is
hiring the necessary staff. i am writing this note to let interested
people know that we have hired a teacher for our new drama program.

Next September students in drama will meet Mr. George Kendall (no
relation to Ben Kendall who already works here and is sometimes associated
with co-curricular plays). George is an experienced, fully certified drama
teacher with a great deal of experience producing and directing plays and
musicals. The entire interview committee was impressed by his credentials,
his personally, and his commitment to engaging students in learning about
drama. We were excited to find someone who had all the qualities we were
looking for. He will be teaching two classes each semester as well as
getting involved in the co-curricular drama offerings that have been
traditional at CCHS.

Two things I hope you will help the students know - 1) the drama courses
are not intended to be exclusive to students who are interested in or have
been part of the after school drama/musical productions. In fact, there is
really no connection, except that students who already have a taste for it
will get a much better understanding of all that is related to theater.
Students who have not been inclined to be part of the after school
performances will find that learning about drama, acting, producing, etc.
will greatly enhance their appreciation of movies, TV, plays, and musicals
in addition to helping them learn a great deal more about themselves. I
know in my previous school the drama courses were the most popular and
very few of the students were actually interested in performing in the
stage productions. 2) Because these course were dependent on the June
override, the drama courses still have room for students to enroll if it
fits an opening in their schedule. The drama courses will be offered B and
D Block first semester and C and D Block second semester. Students who are
interested should let me know via email, phone call. or letter.

If you do respond to this you will learn that I am on vacation starting
this afternoon. However, I'll be back in late July and will get back to
you then. In the meantime, have a great summer.
