Hello everyone,

I hope that summer is providing relaxation opportunities to all the CCHS
students and families. I am writing this just to share a few unrelated
things that might be of interest as we approach the beginning of school.
For me the relaxation is pretty much over. In no particular order of
importance:

	- The traditional summer mailing of information is processed and will be
delivered very soon. Please be aware that because of the bulk and the
quantity of the mailing it does not all leave the Ripley building or the
post office on the same day. Thus some people will receive the mailing a
day or perhaps three days prior to some other people. If you have not
received you packet of information by your mail delivery on 8/22 give us
a call and we will investigate.

	- The September newsletter is included in the mailing. However, it will
also be sent out via the listserv because some information was not
available to us in time to get included in the mailed newsletter. The
emailed newsletter has more information. Please be sure to check it.

	- We are still transitioning to a new administrative computer software
system. Because of that we are unable to finalize, print, or distribute
students schedules with the mailing. Students will get their final first
semester schedules in homeroom the first day of school. In almost every
case the schedule they receive will be exactly the same as the schedule
they received last June. In a few cases, due to overloaded classes
(mostly), changes made to course schedules by dept chairs, or changes made
due to room availability, the schedule students will receive may be
different from what they saw in June. I want to emphasize, no student
would have been taken out of any course or changed level in any course.
The change would simply be the block the student meets a given course may
have changed.

	- We have a new chorus teacher!! We were very fortunate to have an
incredible pool of talented, experienced people apply for the job. We have
selected Mrs. Deborah Smith for the job. Ms. Smith comes with a great deal
of experience including 12 years at Lincoln-Sudbury where she had a very
successful program. I believe the students are going to love her style.
She is extremely professional and delightfully enthusiastic. She has an
outgoing exuberant personality, is very familiar with our program,
determined to maintain its excellence, and has some good ideas of how to
improve on what we do so well. Let's face it, we will all miss Mr. Brown,
but I think our chorus will proceed forward without missing a beat. (A
little pun intended.)

	- I just got word late last week that Ms. Burgess has assumed a full time
position in another system. Our position was only part time. We have just
begun the process to attract and hire a replacement for the orchestra. I
will do my best to find an excellent replacement.

	- Check the local papers over the next couple weeks for information
regarding the beginning of the fall sports season. Generally, the fall
sports begin at least a week before the first day of school. The exact
times, gathering places, etc will be in the local papers. Also, remember
for athletes the current school committee policy is a $125 fee per sport
with a family maximum (I forgot the exact max they approved). Call Brent
Clark (x7160 for details). Also, MIAA regulations require a current record
of physical exam on file at the school for all athletes before they can be
allowed to practice. Send the records to the school nurse, Chris DeBruzzi.

That's enough for now. Enjoy the last few weeks of summer.
