+++++*RED CROSS SERIES*+++++

The Community Education Department is sponsoring and underwriting a
three-night American Red Cross series for community volunteers. We work
in cooperation with public safety officials and the Concord Neighborhood
Networks. Adults and teens are invited to participate in order to join
Emergency Shelter volunteers in Carlisle and Concord. Participants will
also obtain valuable information about sheltering at home and protecting
their families in the event of a crisis. *For more information and to
enroll, please call 978-318-1540 days, 978-318-1432 nights.*
_*Introduction to Disaster Services*_--This program provides fundamental
information about the role of the American Red Cross in disaster
response. Learn about volunteer opportunities within Disaster Services
and how to help with local disaster readiness and response. This is a
prerequisite for the next two programs.* Monday, February 6, 7 to 8:30
p.m., CCHS L-Building*, free.
_*Mass Care*_--This course provides basic information about the Mass
Care function. Mass Care includes both feeding and sheltering
operations. Participants will learn about the skills and abilities
needed when helping at an emergency shelter. *Monday, February 13, 6:30
to 9:30 p.m., CCHS L-Building*, free.
_*Shelter Operations*_--This course prepares participants to effectively
manage shelter operations as part of a team and meet the needs of people
displaced by disaster. *Monday, February 27, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., CCHS
L-Building*, free.

+++++*CCPOPS ANNOUNCE LIST SIGN-UP*+++++

All parents of students who participate in the band, chorus, drama, or
orchestra programs should sign up for the CCPOPS announce list to be
sure to receive important announcements and information about performing
arts
activities at CCHS. To subscribe, go to ccpops.org <http://ccpops.org>
and click on "CCPOPS Announcements" in the top right corner of the page
and follow the directions.

+++++*PARENTS OF BARNUM CAST, CREW, AND PIT ORCHESTRA STUDENTS*+++++

If your student is participating in the spring musical /Barnum/, and you
weren't able to attend the parent meeting last week you should send an
email to "president at ccpops.org <mailto:president at ccpops.org>" so we can
be sure to get some important forms to you. The students rehearse during
February break week and CCPOPS organizes meals ("Feed the Kids") for
that week, and refreshments for tech week and the performances. A fee is
charged for "Feed the Kids" which covers some of the cost of food and
parents are also asked to donate some food items and to take a turn
helping in the kitchen and backstage. There is also a large playbill for
the show and an opportunity to place a personal ad honoring your
student. The deadline for these ads is *February 3*. *Please contact
Diane Payne at president at ccpops.org <mailto:president at ccpops.org> or
978-287-5031 if you have any questions*.
