College of the Overwhelmed
An Evening with Author, Dr. Richard Kadison
In conjunction with the Concord Carlisle High Schools My Focus is on The
Future Health Week, The Center for Parents and Teachers is presenting an
evening with Dr. Richard Kadison, co-author of the best-selling book,
College of the Overwhelmed, and Chief of the Mental Health Service at
Harvard University Health Services. He will address the issue of college
students mental health and well-being and what action parents and
students can take to foster a positive college experience.
While the road to getting accepted to a school of ones choice can be a
daunting journey in itself, once students have arrived, they face many new
stressors as independent individuals in an unfamiliar environment. Dr.
Kadison will explore the many issues that parents and students will want
to be aware of beforehand, such as: academic pressure and competition;
identity development; interpersonal relationships; social fears; and the
shrinking job market. He will offer sensible suggestions to both parents
and college-bound students for dealing with college life, and keeping
lines of communication open to ensure personal success.
All parents/caregivers and high school students are invited to attend
this program which will be held at the Concord Carlisle High School
Auditorium on Tuesday, February 7 from 7:00-9:00PM. There is a fee of
$5.00. Pre-registration is not required but appreciated. Please call the
Center for Parents and Teachers at 978-202-1146 to register or e-mail [
