[CCHS] Athletic Director

Hello to all,
	I think by now everyone knows that Brent Clark, the long time excellent
Coordinator of Athletics for CCHS, retired effective the end of June. I am
very pleased to announce that as of today we have selected and hired a new
Athletic Director. 

	First, let me explain the process. I chose a committee from among a
number of people who volunteered their services.  There were three parents
who had children in the athletic program, 4 coaches (2 male and 2 female),
the trainer, and both Assistant Principals. They met a couple times to
review the nearly 40 resumes of the applicants. From the 40 they chose 6
that they felt met all the criteria I had established and they had
discussed. I then joined the committee and we spent a day interviewing the
group that had been selected. The committee had done a great job, because
the candidates we met were all highly qualified, intelligent, articulate,
and very experienced in the world of high school athletics. Through all
this work we eventually reached a unanimous decision on who would be the
best Athletic Director for CCHS.

	I am very pleased to announce that we have chosen Barry Haley. Barry has
been the Athletic Director of Wakefied HS since 1995. He has also worked
as AD at Bedford HS and Malden Catholic HS. At least as important as his
background is his personality, energy, and ideas. He is a real people
person who values the child and the experience the child will have in
athletics above all. He is enthusiastic about the profession, has clear
goals, and numerous thoughts on how to enhance the student's leadership
opportunities and growth opportunities. I believe he will be an excellent
addition to our staff. I expect that coaches, teachers, students, and
parents will all find him to be a good listener, an articulate advocate
for student-athletes, and an excellent leader for our program.  

	Barry will begin work at CCHS on or about 8/14. I hope you will have a
chance to meet him and will take the opportunity to welcome him to our
school community.
