Hello everyone,
Just a note to let you know the summer mailing left our office at CCHS
this afternoon. You will be getting the packet soon. Please be patient.
Due to the size of the mailing it takes a couple days for it to completely
clear the school offices. The post office typically spreads out its
delivery over a couple days. It is quite likely that people in the
neighborhood will receive packets on different days. If you have not
received your packet by the mail delivery of 8/21 then call Louisa Coleman
(x7101).
In the mailing are the typical forms that need to be reviewed, completed,
and returned with your child on their first day of school. The mailing
also has a "preliminary schedule" for your child. For most, the schedule
will be what they receive on the first day (the real schedule). However,
counselors have not yet dealt with the waiting list issues. Some staff
positions are still unfilled. Some dept chairs are still changing room
assignments and/or teaching assignments. (I met with one earlier today for
just that purpose.) Some special services are not on the schedules. Any of
these things might make a slight alteration to one's schedule between what
arrives in the mail and what is placed in homeroom folders for the first
day. The mailing also has the Handbook. The School Committee will be
officially reviewing it in a couple days, but I am confident it will gain
their approval. You should read it carefully. This handbook is filled with
information about processes, practices, rules, regulations, and
consequences. You and your child should know what is in it, or at least be
familiar enough with it to confidently look information up when necessary.
While I am engaged in writing this I may as well let you know that the
new bleachers for the indoor gym are complete and look great. The new
bleachers for the field are being constructed at this very minute. A crew
of people is installing an interschool phone system so that teachers can
immediately contact the office if necessary. We are beginning the
installation of additional Activboards. By mid-October we expect every
room in the school to have one. (Next we have to do more training of
staff.) Very soon we will have folks here replacing and/or repairing all
fire doors and exterior doors. In sum, the summer has been and continues
to be a very busy time at CCHS. I am excited about the new year and look
forward to seeing the corridors filled with students in a few weeks.
(Let's call it a month for the sake of those not as excited about it as
me.)
Hope all is well. Enjoy the rest of the summer.
