STEP is looking for your support!
The Student Transitional Educational Program (STEP) is a relatively new
alternative program at CCHS dedicated to helping students explore
personal, career, and academic interests by utilizing a unique approach to
learning that takes students beyond the traditional mainstream.
STEP offers a three-pronged approach to education: an individualized,
small classroom setting; vocational outreach and training; and enhanced
community awareness. It is designed for students who desire an
alternative to the traditional educational setting while earning a CCHS
diploma. We believe that student achievement is synonymous with a
willingness to innovate.
In addition to their academic program, students in STEP complete a minimum
of 20 hours of work per week and participate in a career education course
that helps them develop the skills necessary to be productive members of
the community. STEP graduates have used their experiences to further
their education in both college and work settings.
The STEP faculty is looking to make connections in the community for all
aspects of the world of work, including job prospects, job resources, as
well as your own personal career experiences and history. For some of
these students this might be their first exposure to the world of work.
Our goal is to help students to further explore career possibilities as
well as post-secondary planning. If you have any connections or skills
that you would be willing to share, please contact Jill Curry, CCHS
Vocational Counselor at [ mailto:jcurry at colonial.net ]jcurry at colonial.net.
