Good afternoon everyone,
Below you will find information about a program that is sponsored by the
Concord Center for Parents and Teachers. Without doubt it is an important
topic and one that most people, especially teens, do not understand well.
While the program is being offered at CCHS it actually is being marketed
to all the area towns due to Dr. Kilbourne's renown. I hope you and your
child will give it some consideration.

Advertising is an over $200 billion a year industry. We are exposed to
more than 3000 ads per day, yet many of us dont believe we are influenced
by advertising. Ads sell values, images, and concepts of success and
worth, love and sexuality, popularity and normalcy. They tell us who we
are and who we should be. Sometimes they sell addictions.
In this presentation, Dr. Kilbourne will expose the manipulative
marketing strategies and tactics used by industries (such as the tobacco
and alcohol industries) to keep Americans hooked on their dangerous
products.
She will also educate us about the primary purpose of the mass media and
will emphasize the way of freedom from its influences and good health.
Dr. Kilbourne has been what The Boston Globe described as a superstar
lecturer for many years. She has lectured at about one-half of all the
colleges and universities in the U.S. and all of the major universities in
Canada, as well as scores of public and private schools. She is known for
her wit and warmth and her ability to present provocative topics in a way
that unites rather than divides, and that encourages dialogue and moves
and empowers people. For more info. on Dr. Kilbournes extensive work, go
