*Emergency Training & Disaster Preparedness*
"Community Emergency Response Team" (CERT) is 6 nights of instruction
with Concord first responders and volunteers. It starts February 6, and
meets on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 7 to 10 p.m. for three weeks.
Classes are held in the Emergency Operations Center room, third floor of
Concord's Public Safety Building. The course is supported by several
organizations, enabling a modest $15 registration fee. Enroll at

community service of the
Concord-Carlisle Schools.
*Free Slide Show: People of the Monpa Tribes*
Armchair Travels is a free hour-long program on Monday nights, open to
all ages. It meets at 7 p.m. at the Harvey Wheeler Community Center in
West Concord. On Monday, February 5, the program is "In the Land of the
Monpa
Tribes." Explore this remote corner of India in the Himalayas, on th
border of Bhutan and Tibet, where Concord's Monika Anderssen visited the
people of the Monpa tribes in order to photograph the opening of a school.
*Family Video History*
It is never too late to begin capturing your family's story on video.
This workshop is for anyone intrigued with the idea of home video that
will preserve precious memories and keep family tales alive. One session
willexplore ways of documenting family history and interview techniques.
The second will focus on basic lighting, scanning of photos, and how to
plan and compose a compelling video for generations to come. Start now!
The instructor, Paul Dewey, is President of CCTV, the member-based
television station based at CCHS. He is an experienced videographer and
journalist. Dewey runs Corporate Video Production for Concord's North
Bridge Productions and DigiNovations.

*+++++** MARILEE JONES ON CCTV** * *+++++*
You might remember Marilee Jones from her great talk last October on
"Less Stress, More Success." She is now talking to our seniors during
Health Week (February 7, during Block B). In addition, there will be
several opportunities to see her original presentation on CCTV. Parents
might try to watch the program prior to Health Week so they can talk to
their kids about this important topic---but her message is for all
parents not just parents of Seniors. CCTV is offering it at a variety of
times to try to accommodate everyone:

Second Annual Community Service Opportunities Fair

CCPOPS is sponsoring a theater trip to see "Doubt" at the *Colonial
Theater in Boston on Sunday, February 11, at 5 p.m.* The trip price of
$40 includes ticket and bus transportation. The bus will leave at 3:30
p.m. from CCHS and return to CCHS by 8 p.m. Cherry Jones, who won a Tony
Award for her performance on Broadway, is also starring in this
production. Permission slips are available on the Drama Board across
from the Chorus Room as well as on the CCPOPS website. Permission slips
and checks made out to CCPOPS may be turned in to Ms. Hammer in the main
