*+++++** ANNUAL APPEAL** * *+++++*
*
*
The Annual Appeal Campaign is in full swing! We hope that each and every
CCHS family will participate---no donation is too small and no donation
is too large! To date, we are have raised almost $22,000, which
represents just over 50 percent of our fundraising goal. That's
terrific! But those donations have come from only 20 percent of CCHS
households! Please, think about your child's education, his or her daily
environment and experiences, and how you can help. Your contribution
will make a difference! *Please mail your tax deductible donation (made
out to "CCHS Parents Association") to CCHS Annual Appeal, c/o 70
**Alford Circle, Concord, MA 0174*. Thank you!
*+++++** SPORTS TALK** * *+++++*
*
*
On *Monday, March 26, at 7:30 p.m.* *at the Harvey Wheeler Community
Center*, 1276 Main Street in West Concord, the Concord Carlisle Parent
Initiative (CCPI) presents Dr. Adam Naylor, Sports Psychology Coach in a
talk on "Raising a Student Athlete:A Family's Guide for Navigating Youth
and Teen Sports." Parents, guardians, and coaches are invited to learn
about creating an environment for optimal sports performance and
positive experience for student athletes. A focus will be given to
preventing burnout while nurturing timely learning of sport and life
skills. This is a free program but donations are appreciated at the
door. *For more information please visit www.ccpi.info
<http://www.ccpi.info>.*
*+++++** GIRLS HOCKEY BROADCASTS** * *+++++*
*
*

Concord Community TV (Cable Channel 8) will be broadcasting the girls'
hockey games beginning *Saturday, March 10, at 9:30 a.m.* This week's
broadcasts will include the recent Acton-Boxboro, Lincoln-Sudbury, and
Peabody-HS games. *CCTV <http://www.concordtv.org>* broadcasts its
program schedule for the week on both Channels 8 and 9. The game
broadcasts will be repeated during the week.**

*+++++ COLLEGE: THERE'S STILL MORE TO TALK ABOUT +++++
*
*
*
The CCPI, with funding from the Northwest Suburban Health Alliance/CHNA
15 and DoN funds through Lahey Clinic, presents an evening forum in
three parts for students and parents on *Tuesday, March 13, from 7:30 to
9 p.m. in the CCHS auditorium*. This program is most relevant for
juniors, but all parents and students are invited. The forum will
feature (1) a discussion of general but perplexing issues, such as how
to get the most out of a campus visit and how to conduct a college
interview; (2) a discussion by Ethan Hoblitzelle, CCHS Faculty in Social
Studies, on the Gap Year between high school and college and reasons to
take or not take one; and (3) a discussion by Nick Michael, college
athletic consultant and father of two college-bound athletes, on the
college application and recruitment process specific to student athletes
(including unique strategies to use, supplemental essays, and multimedia
attachments).

**+++++** CCHS MUSIC AND THEATER PARENT, STUDENT, AND ALUMNI BRUNCH** *
*+++++*
*
*
On *Sunday, March 11*, there will be a CCHS music and theater student
and alumni brunch at the *Concord Children's Center from 11 a.m. to 1
p.m.* Special guests of honor will be Chuck Brown, CCHS Chorus & Drama
Director
from 1999-2005, his wife Patty Brown, and their new daughter, Cassie,
who was born on December 27, 2006. We hope that current students,
alumni, their parents, and teachers who worked on musical and theater
productions with Mr. Brown will join the festivities! *Please call Lucy
Miller, CCPOPS Alumni Coordinator, at 978-371-9632 to RSVP*. We are
giving Cassie a bookshelf to help start her love of reading and learning
early. If you would like to help us fill the shelves, please bring a
copy of your favorite children's book (ages 1-12) for her. Lucy will
keep a list of books other guests have chosen.
