Hello Everyone,

As you all very well know, CCHS is a great high school with a strong and
vigorous academic curriculum; however, we need to work on our school
“community.” In order to address this issue, we are bringing a program
called “Be the Change” to our school. We will be working to make our
school a more respectful, safe, and unified environment.

To accomplish this goal, we are going to be holding an assembly on March
16th to inform the students and faculty about the visions of the program.
Following the assembly, we will be asking students and faculty members to
sign up to participate in one of two Challenge Days (taking place on
Monday, April 30th and Tuesday, May 1st). During these days, students,
faculty, parents, and other adults in our community will take part in
activities and discussions which will focus on confronting and resolving
many of the issues based upon discrimination, prejudices, stress,
violence, drugs, and alcohol that exist within the walls of our school and
the lives of our students. If you would like to know more about the
program and the Challenge Day itself, we recommend that you go to the
links listed at the end of this message.

We are very excited about this program and we hope that you will take some
time to look into it and learn more about what we are trying to do for the
community at CCHS.

We are looking for parents to help us with the organization and
implementation of this program. To ensure a successful Challenge Day, we
need volunteers. Some of these volunteer opportunities include
registration coordinator, lunch coordinator, adult facilitators and
volunteer recruiter. There are also many other positions we will need
filled. If you are interested in helping us in any way, please contact
Brian Miller (of the Science Department), by emailing him at
brianmiller at colonial.net.

Thank you for your time,

The Be the Change Team,
