[CCHS] a small concern

Good afternoon to all,
For the past few days it has become more and more clear that spring may
actually be here to stay. That is a good thing. a Concord resident has
informed me that one of the not so good things that seems to happen each
spring is also here. The resident informed me that there seems to be an
onset of students spray painting "07" onto signs and/or trees. Every year
the painting is a problem. Of course, there are several schools in the
area and it is not necessarily provable that CCHS students are the
culprits. But I would ask that you speak to your child to remind them that
it is not a trivial thing. It certainly does not help the general
citizenry feel inclined to celebrate graduation along with the graduates.
It actually costs the taxpayers thousands of dollars to correct. In fact,
the reason you see it uncorrected from other years is due to the expense
and the lack of funds to pay for the correction. Chief Weatherbee
explained to me that the special coating used on highway signs that helps
them be visible in all manner of lighting will not allow the sign to
simply be washed clean of the paint. I will also mention that a couple
years ago four of our nicest girls were apprehended in the act. There were
legal consequences for them which proved quite costly.
For me this is a small concern, one I have little control over, but one
that is a persistent thorn to many of your fellow residents. Whatever help
you might give would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
