A Message from the Center for Parents and Teachers...

Dear Parents,
There is a very important program taking place in Westford on Oct. 16.
You are cordially welcome to attend. Please open the attachment for
additional information.

Parenting Presentation on Teen Depression

Millions of American teens experience major depression every year, and yet
fewer than half receive treatment. Join us on Thursday, October 16, 2008
at 7PM for a special screening of Depression: True Stories, a 25-minute
film. Producer Jeanne Blake, former WBZ-TV medical reporter, will lead an
informative discussion addressing depression, anxiety, and stress among
young people. The film and Ms. Blake’s presentation are just part of the
program, entitled Depression, Anxiety, and Stress: Let’s Talk About It.
Joining Ms. Blake will be Matt McWade, statewide youth coordinator for the
Dept. of Mental Health in MA. He was diagnosed with major depression at
13, and has dealt with substance abuse. Today, he is a strong voice and
advocate for young adults with mental illness.
Program is free and open to the public. It will take place at the
Blanchard Middle School Auditorium, 14 West St., Westford, MA 01886 at
7PM.
Attendees will receive free copies of Jeanne Blake's Words Can Work: When
Talking About Depression and Other Mental Health Discorders booklets,
while supplies last.
For more information, contact Mary Anne Seraphin, Westford Parent
Connection, at mseraphin at comcast.net.

Center for Parents and Teachers is promoting this program on behalf of
the Youth Risk Behavior Survey Committe, Westford Against Substance Abuse
and WPC.
