Hello Everyone-
I hope you all had a happy and healthy holiday season during which you
found time to reconnect with family and friends.
There will be a "Friends of Challenge Day" gathering on Wednesday 1/14 to
discuss activities to keep the Challenge Day experience alive in the
greater CC community. This meeting will take place in the CCHS Library at
1/14 at 7pm. Additionally, during this meeting there will be an
opportunity for you to find out more about Challenge Day and the Be the
Change Movement. We hope that you will be able to join us.
Finally, I am sure that some of you are not exactly sure what Challenge
Day and the Be the Change Movement are so i have included some more
information and websites at the end of this email.
Please contact Brian Miller (brianmiller at colonial.net) with any questions
and I look forward to seeing you on Wednesday 1/14 at 7pm in the Library.

Be the Change:
The "Be The Change" Movement was inspired by the words and actions of
Mahatma Gandhi "we must be the change we wish to see in the world;" it is
an initiative to bring more citizenship and community to students across
the country. It consists of individuals linked by a common desire to make
a positive change in the world around them. The goal of the Be the Change
Movement is to challenge people everywhere to commit to doing at least one
intentional positive act of change each day for the betterment of the
world and its people. One of the programs used to bring this change to
schools around the country is the Challenge Day Program.
Challenge Day:
Challenge Day provides youths and their communities with experimental
workshops and programs that demonstrate the possibility of love and
connection through the celebration of diversity, truth, and full
expression. Challenge Day is a one-day workshop where students, teachers,
parents, administrators, counselors and members of the community
experience for themselves that love and connection are indeed possible in
our schools. During these days, participants will be engaged in
activities and discussions which will focus on confronting and resolving
many of the issues based upon discrimination, prejudices, stress,
violence, drugs, and alcohol that exist within the walls of our school and
the lives of our students. If you would like to know more about the
program and the Challenge Day itself, we recommend that you go to the
links listed at the end of this message.
