DAILY BULLETIN
TUESDAY, MARCH 3, 2009

Due to the three snow days in 08-09, the last day of school for students
is Friday, June 26.

Come cheer the on CCHS Boys Hockey at the semi-finals today (Tuesday) at
5PM at the O’Brien Skating Rink, in Woburn.

Attention all Freshman, Sophomore and Junior Swimmers and Divers!  Please
come to a brief, but important meeting in Mr. Goldberg's room - S3
directly after school TODAY.  See you there!

Attendance reports are due to Mrs. Merry in the Main Office by the end of
the day tomorrow, Wednesday, March 4th.
Ms. Haskins will be holding a make-up course selection meeting, for
students in all grades, TODAY during D and E blocks in the Upper Library.

Ms. Reidy and Mrs. DiCesare will be holding a make-up course selection
meeting, for students in all grades, after school on Wednesday, March 4th
at 2:15 p.m. This meeting will be held in the guidance department.

Mrs. Brown's make-up freshmen scheduling groups from yesterday's snow day
will be held immediately after school TODAY in the guidance/counseling
dept.

Ms. Furey will be holding make-up sessions for the course selection
meetings for freshmen and sophomores Wednesday, March 4th during the lunch
blocks in the upper library. 

Attention boys cross-country running team, and anyone interested in
joining the XC team next fall: There will be a quick meeting Wednesday at
2:30 in H3. Be there! Questions, see Pat Deedy, Phil Lavely, Nick Dragone,
or Cook Welch.

Matchmakers will be handed out in homerooms Friday March 6.

Health Week continues today with the following thought-provoking
presentations in the Little Theater.  First off in A and B blocks come to
learn about financial health for teens.  During E and F blocks Ms, Wedig
will discuss Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and how you can it to help
you when you are going through difficult times. 

Finally, in the Cafeteria during lunch the 2009 Community Service Fair
will be held.  A considerable number of community organizations will have
tables set up where you can stop by and learn about opportunities for
taking part in meaningful service for your neighbors in Concord, Carlisle
and the metro Boston area.

Ssh!  Don't tell anyone, but sci-fi club will be discussing government
conspiracies on Wednesday at 2:30 in H-12.  The truth, and free pizza, is
out there. All are welcome.

GIRLS TENNIS THERE WILL BE A MEETING OF THE GIRLS TENNIS TEAM WEDNESDAY at
2:30, IN H2.

Members of the Academic Bowl A and B teams should get a permission slip
for the MIT tournament from Mr. Atlas today, please.

Do you consider yourself a true sports fan and are you knowledgeable about
Baseball, Softball or Lacrosse? If so, would you be interested in sharing
that knowledge with others within the community?  WIQH is currently
looking for students to join "their" team and broadcast a variety of
Spring Sports. If this interests you, please stop by the station at your
convenience and ask to speak with Carl, Jon or Ned. Thank you!

Seniors - CCPops Scholarship Application is available in the March
Newsletter or you may see Mrs. Trainor for a form.

Come to Amnesty International TODAY at 5pm in H-5 to watch Michael
Franti's documentary, "I Know I'm Not Alone," on war-torn Middle East. 
Everyone is welcome!

This weekend is your last chance to see "Miss Saigon" with over 100 of
your classmates on stage, in the pit, and backstage tech.  "Miss Saigon"
is the multi-Tony award winning tragic love story that chronicles the
final weeks of US involvement in Vietnam and the aftermath.  This show
features a real helicopter hovering the stage and we've secured a real
vintage Huey for our production that actually saw service in Vietnam!Show
dates are:  Friday and Saturday, March 6-7 at 7:30 pm and Sunday, March 8
at 1:30 pm.  Tickets are available Friday, F block lunch, on-line from
ticketstage.com and at the door.  Come see "Miss Saigon"!

AP sign-ups will take place from TODAY through March 6th, in the main
office with Mrs. Trainor from 8am-2pm.
Tests are $86 each, make check payable to "CCHS".  You need your check
when you sign up, you can not sign up without a check.

 Ushers are needed for Ms Saigon.  Performances are on March 6th and 7th
at 7:30pm and March 1st and 8th at 1:30pm.  Student ushers will have free
admission to the performance and receive community service.  Please pick
up an information sheet from the bulletin board across from the chorus

2VOLUNTEER presents HEALTHWEEK's COMMUNITY SERVICE FAIR, TODAY, 10:30 AM
TO 1 PM, LUNCH BLOCKS, CAFETERIA! Please be sure to visit and check out
wonderful community service opportunities this SPRING and throughout the
year.

President's Volunteer Service Awards Application extended to March 15th
ALL CCHS STUDENTS ARE ELIGIBLE. A student may apply; a teacher may
nominate a student.~This award is given to students who have demonstrated
outstanding volunteer service for at least 100 hours of community service
over the course of ANY 12-month period during your high school career.

Download the application, Fill out with complete details; drop off at
2volunteer mailbox in Main Office.

The Concord Police Department will be sponsoring RAD for females. RAD is
Rape Aggression Defense Systems, which is a realistic self-defense program
teaching risk reduction and avoidance strategies, including hands-on
defense training. RAD is not a martial arts program. This is a four night
course using simple and easy to learn techniques, providing an effective
and proven method of self-defense for females. High School females are
encouraged to participate. RAD classes will be held Wednesday evenings on
March 11, 18, 25, and April 1, from Class 6:30PM to approximately 8:45PM.
The first class will be held at the Concord Police Department. The
remaining classes will be held at the Alcott School gymnasium. Class size
