ConcordCAN, the Concord Climate Action Network, is organizing a [
http://www.350.org/ ]www.350.org ~event for 4/26, 12:30pm at Heywood
Meadow. (It is on Heywood Street, if you go via Walden Street from Main
Street, turn left onto Heywood; the meadow is on the right via just before
you reach Lexington Road.)This is one in a series of events leading up to
a big, worldwide global warming rally on Oct. 24. For a full understanding
of what the number means, visit the 350.org website. Briefly, it refers to
350 parts per million of CO2 in the atmosphere.
That amount, which climate scientists consider a tolerable upper limit,
has already been exceeded, posing great danger to the planet. Climate
action organizations worldwide are seeking to influence the outcome of the
next international conference on climate change (IPCC) in December of this
year to mandate effective reductions in CO2 emissions. The local 350 event
on April 26 will involve, among other things, a picture of the assembled
attendees standing in the shape of a 350. Similar events are happening
around the world. Come and bring your whole family.~~ Contact Bob Andrews
