Dear Parents,
As I shared with you this morning, we are deeply saddened by the loss of
one of our students. My impression is that there are some students who
have been overwhelmed with grief but that most students are still
processing the loss. In an effort to help you support your child, I have
provided an attachment that contains suggestions for ways to talk about
this with your son or daughter.
A resource your child can access over the weekend is the Samariteens
Hotline 1-800-252 TEEN (8336). This teen help line provides confidential
peer support and understanding to teens who are struggling with feelings
of depression, loneliness and stress. From 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays,
and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends, this service is staffed by volunteers
between the ages of 15 and 18; outside those hours, calls are answered by
adult volunteers.
If you are concerned about your child, please contact the Guidance office.
We will continue to provide close support to the students in the coming
weeks.
