7 Things Your Teenager Won't Tell You..and How to Talk About Them Anyway
YES, YOU CAN TALK WITH YOUR TEENAGER
Every teenager keeps secrets. If you're like most parents, you worry about
what your kids don't tell you.
Author Jenifer Lippincott offers a deceptively simple plan for talking to
your kids that's based on a simple set of rules:
Teens need to stay safe, show respect, and keep in touch.
While these three simple rules may not guarantee a smooth ride through
adolescence, they can ease some of the stresses that tend to ambush our
teens-and us-as we all struggle toward (their) adulthood.
Jenifer Marshall Lippincott has over twenty years experience working with
adolescents as a high school English teacher, a dean at a boarding school
and a learning consultant. She has observed, counseled and researched teens
extensively in a quest to understand their quirky, honest and unpredictable
behaviors. She serves on the Pediatric Alliance for a Boston hospital, the
Board of Trustees of a Boston area school and is a Fellow of the Society of
Applied Learning.
She is a frequent speaker and adviser to parent groups on adolescent issues.
She has appeared on The Today Show, NPR and numerous other radio and
television programs, and is often quoted in publications such as The New
York Times, The New York Post, USA Today, The Boston Globe, The Philadelphia
Inquirer, The Chicago Tribune, and The Miami Herald. She is also a
contributing expert for several websites, including Club Mom, and We Believe
in Girls.
She holds a Master's Degree in human development from Harvard University.
She lives in Washington, DC with her husband and two adolescent daughters.
