FAMILY VACATIONS AND END OF YEAR ABSENCE
Parents and students are reminded that Massachusetts Law requires
compulsory attendance for students. We strongly discourage family
vacations when school is in session. In addition to compromising the
attendance law, family vacations interrupt the educational process of each
course in ways that make-up work cannot reverse. If family vacations are
planned, an email (pbadalament at colonial.net) from the parent/guardian must
be submitted to the principal at least 1 month before the vacation date.
Please note that teachers are not required to make special provisions for
students who miss school for family vacations.

Seniors - CCPOPS Scholarship applications are now available. The
application form is in the February Newsletter or you may pick up a copy
from Mrs. Coleman in the main office. Application deadline is April 1.

All Sophomores: Don't forget your meeting with your guidance counselor
this week. This meeting is not optional! You must attend to schedule your
classes for next year. Groups will meet in the Library, FIRST FLOOR.

ATTENTION ALL YEARBOOKERS!! The yearbook club photo will FINALLY be taken
after school this TODAY. Please come to the yearbook office if you've
contributed in any way to the yearbook this year--it should be a good time.

Softball sign up meeting TODAY immediately after school in S-9.

Amnesty International will meet today at 5 p.m. in room H6. All are
welcome to join us and help coordinate our Valentine's Day fundraiser for
human rights work in Haiti.

Show some love for Haiti! Make your own Valentines with Amnesty
International during D, E, and F blocks throughout the week. Each
Valentine will cost $2 to make--we provide the supplies and you bring your
own creativity! All proceeds will go towards Amnesty's human rights work
in the wake of Haiti's disaster.

It is carnation time! Send your sweetheart, best friend or favorite
teacher a carnation. It is almost Valentines Day and carnations will be
on sale during all lunch blocks starting today and will be delivered
Friday the 12th. PLEASE know your friends full schedule, including
teacher and room number so that we can send the carnation to the correct
class.

Please help provide food for those in need. The Class of 2012 is
sponsoring a canned food drive week of February 8-12. Food donations will
help supply Cor Unum in Lawrence, MA. Lawrence is one of the poorest
communities in MA. As neighbors - we have an opportunity to make a
difference to those in need.

Collection boxes will be located in all English classes. Bring some canned
goods and remind a friend to do the same. (Spread the word and help a
neighbor!) Prizes will be awarded to the class who brings in the most cans!

The late winter musical, Wonderful Town, needs ushers for its
performances. Performances are, Friday, Saturday & Sunday February 26, 27
& 28 and Friday, Saturday & Sunday March 5, 6 & 7. Please sign up on the
drama bulletin board by the chorus room if you're interested.
