Applications are now being accepted for the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards
also known as the RYLA. The weekend conference to take place from June 25
to June 27, 2010. Information and application in the March Newsletter, on
the sophomore list serve, or see Mrs. Coleman in the main office.
Auditions for the Spring Shakespeare production of Much Ado About Nothing
TODAY and Thursday March 18th in the Chorus Room. Audition Materials are
available through the high school website under the theatre department
page.
Sci-fi club is back! Come join us on Wednesday at 2:30 in H-12 for NEW
permission slips for laser tag, pizza and discussion. All are welcome.
To all wrestlers: There will be a very short fifteen minute meeting TODAY
after school in H-9. We will be passing out Varsity letters/pins and
certificates. The new flyers for the youth wrestling program will also be
distributed. All wrestlers are required to come. Please bring uniforms!
The meeting will be over by 2:30 and will not effect spring sport
participants
Students who took their final exam for driver ed on March 11 may come to
the community ed office after 1 p.m. to find out their grade.
The Environmental Field Studies Group will be meeting Friday after school.
We'll be heading outside and it may be muddy, so wear appropriate shoes.
Newcomers always welcome. See you then!
Come support Team Pathways as they raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis
Walk by stopping by the school store in the cafeteria for a bake sale this
Thursday March 18th after school until 3:00. You can also make a donation
at the school store Monday through Thursday. Come by for a snack and
support a good cause!
Seniors who used their winter sport for the Senior Wellness Project,
please be reminded the due date for your report is Friday, March 19.
Please turn your journal, 4 article critiques and self evaluation in to
either Ms. Slocum or Mr. McGrath's box in the Healh and Fitness Office.

Community service opportunity for Friday, March 19 the Willard Talent
Show, Friday evening at CCHS is looking for one~to two~volunteers to help
us on Friday evening, from~7:30 pm to about 9 pm.
Carry cases of water (pint bottles) and candy from my vehicle to the hall
outside the auditorium
Set up three tables with refreshments for sale~(the custodian will have
the tables and trash cans in place)
Sell refreshments at intermission (usually starts about 8:15) but not
during the show
Pack up the leftovers and carry them back to my vehicle
Volunteers should not plan to watch the entire show, although they might
see some of it.

Alcott Elementary School will be holding its annual Science Fair on
Saturday, March 20th from 9 - 11am. There is an opportunity for
approximately 20 CCHS students to volunteer to help us that morning if
they'd like. We are in need of "Interviewers" to ask the children
questions about their projects (no judging), and "Concession Attendants"
to sell coffee, waters and nut-free snacks at the event.
Student Volunteer Presidents Service Award Applications Due April 1
CCHS students have a requirement to complete 40 hours of community service
in order to graduate.~However, many students go far beyond that minimal
requirement out of interest or commitment to the concept of community
service as a responsibility.~
The Presidents Volunteer Service Award, signed by President Barack Obama,
and is awarded to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding volunteer
service and civic participation over the course of a 12-month
period.~Students must serve more than 100 hours per any 12 month period to
be eligible. There are three categories of award; Bronze Award 100-174
hours; Silver Award 175-249 hours and the Gold Award for more than 250
hours per 12 months.

Summer Workshops at CC Schools
Creative Wellness & Exercise for Girls
GirlPower! empowers girls up to age 15 with new skills and fosters
self-confidence through the gentle introduction to yoga, journaling,
Pilates, creative cooking, skin care, expressive dance, fashion sense and
body image, art, talk about becoming a teen. Susanne Liebich, yoga
practitioner, certified Pilates instructor, and dance instructor, is
joined by guests Debra Stark of Debra's Natural Gourmet, Debora Ricci of
Teresina's Vintages, artist Susan Ticknor, and writer Ruth Herman. Three
separate one-week sessions are offered the weeks of July 12, 19, and 26
from 9 AM to 4 PM. The program takes place at the Ripley School and the
nearby Thoreau Farm. The cost is $500 and includes a nutritious lunch. To

Summer School Volunteer/Intern opportunity
Concord Public Schools Summer School
Alcott School
Monday to Friday, 9 AM to Noon, June 28 to July 23
Interested CCHS students are invited to apply for a limited number of
volunteer teacher-assistant positions. Required: a serious commitment to
helping elementary school students and their teachers in a high-quality
summer program of math and language arts. Duties include helping with
classroom management, preparing lessons, assisting with small-group and
individual instruction, and supervising recess activities. A limited
number of community service positions are also available with morning and
afternoon science and art programs for children at the Alcott School.
