Good morning, CCHS Poets. The English Department is pleased to announce
the annual Paula Sirois Poetry contest. Please give your poem to Ms.
Peterson in the English office by Friday, April 16th. This is a way to be
celebrated and honored by the English Department, so please consider
submitting!
Do you need community service hours? Would you like to help clean up our
campus? Are you interested in helping our environment? Join us THIS
SATURDAY APRIL 10th to clean up around school and improve the conditions
of the courtyards. We will be meeting at the lower gym at 11:00 AM. Bring
your work gloves and get ready for a fun afternoon!
The Environmental Field Studies Group will meet TODAY after school in S-1.
We will visit our field sites on campus and plan our spring projects.
New members always welcome!
Several biology classes are raising praying mantids again this year. We
need a LOT of 2 liter bottles. Clear are best, but green are okay. If
possible, please rinse before dropping off in the Science Dept. Office or
S-1.
Concord-Carlisle Community Chest is accepting applications for the
Volunteer Service Award for Outstanding Service in the Field of Human
Services. Nominee must be either a Concord or Carlisle resident, or attend
public or private high school in Concord. Application forms available
from Mrs. Coleman in the main office and also in the April Newsletter.
Deadline for applications to be returned to the C-C Community Chest is
April 12th.

Community Service Opportunity to help spruce up Heywood Meadow, Sat. April
10, 10:00am ñ 1:00pm (rain date April 11, 1:00pm ñ 4:00pm).~ Help needed
with general spring cleanup of Heywood Meadow. ~Please bring rakes,
pruners, and work gloves if possible. Volunteers can contact 978.369.7060

The Annual Reflections Short Story and Non-fiction contest awards ceremony
will be on Wednesday, April 14 at from 2:30 to 3:00 in the CCHS Library,
come celebrate our prize winning writers, hear excerpts and from our
professional judges and enjoy refreshments.

CCHS Boys Lacrosse Spring Clean Up Fund Raiser! Saturday May 1st and
Sunday May 2nd, the boys lacrosse players will be available for your
spring yard clean up needs. All proceeds go directly to "Friends or
Lacrosse" to help support the Freshman, JV and Varsity teams. Please

MAKE A DIFFERENCE ON APRIL 10
You can make a difference on Saturday, April 10! Donate blood at the 9th
Annual Nick Ressler Blood Drive. Over 300 blood donors in our community
stepped up to make a difference to Nick Ressler before he died of cancer
at age 14 in 2001, now others need the same help.~ Join Nickís friends,
neighbors and family by rolling up your sleeves to share the gift of life
with those who now require blood due to surgery, trauma, or medical
treatments. Mass General Hospitalís Bloodmobile will be at First Parish
on Saturday, April 10 from 8:00 AM ñ 12:30 PM for the 9th annual Nick
Ressler Blood Drive. If you are~between the ages of 16 and 65 you may be

Little Orphan Annie comes out of a 1920ís Chicago comic strip and
into~Annie the Musical~at~Sanborn Middle School~on~Friday, April 9th~at
7:00 pm; Saturday, April 10th~at 7:00 pm~and~Sunday, April 11th~at 2:30
pm.~General Seating tickets are now on sale for $10 and are available
either by printing and filling out the order form found on the CMS Website

Ticket Quick Link, or at~Fritz & Gigi's in Concord Center.~ Order forms
may be returned to the main office at either Sanborn or Peabody, or may be

enclose a check made out to Concord Middle School (NO cash please) to
cover the cost of the tickets. Tickets ordered by mail must be postmarked
by April 3rd. Tickets will be held at the door and may be picked up 1/2
hour before each performance. Tickets will be sold at the door ñ subject
to availability ñ but due to Annie's wide appeal, best not to put off

CCHS Driver Education- Spring & Summer Classes announced
CCHS Driver Education classes start April 27, June 28 and August 2.
Limited enrollment, early sign-up advised. You must be 15 years 10 months
to begin, and 16 by the final classroom date. Behind-the-wheel instruction
is included.
Fee: $600 for Spring classes ($625 for June 28 class unless prepaid by
June 1)
DE 110: Tuesday and Thursday, April 27-June 15, 2:15-4:15 PM, CCHS
DE 111: Monday thru Thursday, June 28-July 22 6:00-8:00 PM, CCHS
DE 112: Monday thru Thursday, August 2-25, 8:00-10:00 AM, CCHS
CCHS will not offer an accelerated classroom schedule for Driver
Education. The 15-class schedule over 4 weeks during the summer is our
most accelerated version of the mandated curriculum. You may make up
specific classes missed in one course at a later course. Course and

Students who have done well in Biology or Chemistry may be considering
taking the Subject Test in (formerly SAT II). Community Education offers
an optional, fee-based course that emphasizes content materials on the SAT
II. This content may not have been addressed specifically in the regular
curriculum, which is not geared toward any particular exam. Course fee
includes text. Courses are:
Biology E/M: 6 Thursdays, 2:30-4:30 PM, April 29-June 3, $150 (course 4712)
Biology E/M: 4 Sundays, 2:00-5:00 PM, May 2-23, $150 (course 4713)
Chemistry: 4 Sundays, 2:00-5:00 PM, May 2-23, $150 (course 4714)

"Singin' In The Rain" comes to the Emerson Umbrella stage for two more
weekends. Adapted from one of the most-loved and celebrated film musicals
of all time, this joyous show is a charming, up-beat, graceful, and
thoroughly enjoyable journey through the days in Hollywood when silent
films transitioned to "Talkies". This show is directed and choreographed
by the Umbrella's own Julia Fiske and features professional and amateur
talent drawn from
the region, including Becky Robichaudof Concord as The Girl in the Green
Dress. Performances will be held on April 9, 10, 16, and 17. Curtain time
is 8 pm and the show runs a little over two hours with a brief
intermission between acts. Tickets are $20 or $15 for students and
