The story of The Scarlet Pimpernel is set in 1794, during the French
revolution is at its frenzied height. Injustice, intrigue, and accusations
swirl everywhere. Sir Percival Blakeney of England has just married
Marguerite St. Just, a beautiful French actress. Moments after the
wedding, Percy is horrified to discover that his wife might be a French
spy, betraying former friends and nobles to execution by guillotine.
Percy persuades his British noble friends to band together to save French
innocents and to thwart the new French government. They are pursued by
government agent Chauvelin, who will stop at nothing to capture the
Scarlet Pimpernel. This captivating tale makes for a evening of action and
adventure that will delight history buffs, French students, and anyone who
enjoys big Broadway musicals!"
