The senior class photo, on the bleachers in the gym, will be taken
during<b> homeroom on <br>
October 14</b>. If you're interested in purchasing a copy of this
picture, Mrs. Coleman has <br>
order forms. <b>October 28 is the next yearbook deadline</b>. Seniors
should be bringing in <br>
senior summer, remember when, and prom/semi pictures. Please make sure
your name is <br>
on the back of every picture—all pictures will be returned. If you are
the captain of a sport, <br>
your <b>team write-up is also due on the Oct. 28</b>. Please check the
yearbook door for your <br>
name—there are several seniors who have not turned in portraits. We
would like everyone <br>
to be pictured in the yearbook. By this time, you should have received
an order form (from <br>
Herff Jones) for this year's yearbook. If you think you might want one,
please be sure to<br>
order one. There will be a limited number of yearbooks available for
purchase this spring. <br>

On <b>Wednesday, October 19, from 7 to 9 p.m. at CCHS</b>, CC<br>
Community Education is sponsoring a free community talk for students,<br>
parents, educators, and counselors, on the topic "Attitude Aptitude: How<br>
Learned Optimism can help high school and college students succeed."<br>
In this introductory presentation to the "Attitude Aptitude" inner prep<br>
course for teenagers, to be held at CCHS on December 9 and 10, the<br>
facilitator Robin L. Zucker, MDiv., will share the research-based
premise of<br>
the program—the pioneering work of Dr. Martin E.P. Seligman in the field<br>
of positive psychology. Robin will also offer an overview of the 10-hour<br>
workshop's creative, hands-on exercises that will help students learn
and<br>
practice the optimistic attitudes that lead to increased self-awareness
and<br>
resilience, reduced stress, enhanced life skills, deeper personal<br>
fulfillment, and greater success in academics, athletics, avocations,
and<br>
relationships. Individuals attending the talk will have a chance to
sample<br>

the first title in our 2005-2006 book discussion series. Please join us

by Kathy Reticker, Early Childhood Specialist. CCPI is offering this
free program at the Concord <br>

+++++<font color="#000099"><b> HARVARD OPPORTUNES FUNDRAISER</b></font>

On <b>Saturday, October 22</b>, <b>at 7:30 p.m. in the CCHS cafeteria</b>,
Harvard University’s premier <br>
co-ed <i>a cappella</i> group, the Harvard Opportunes, will be
featured at "A Time To Shine," a gala <br>
fundraiser to support the performing arts at CCHS. The community is
invited to an evening of <br>
many talented performers, fabulous desserts and fantastic raffle
prizes. "A Time To Shine" is <br>
sponsored by Concord Carlisle Patrons of Performing Students (CCPOPS),
a non-profit organization <br>
created to support the CCHS students involved in the performing arts,
including chorus, orchestra, <br>
band, dance, drama, and the musicals.
The Harvard Opportunes sing a mix of old and new music that <br>
will delight listeners. CCHS alumnus Gordon Kraft-Todd ’02, who sings
baritone with the Opportunes, <br>
is remembered at CCHS for his brilliant performance of "The Gypsy in
Me" in the role of Lord Evelyn <br>
Oakleigh in <i>Anything Goes</i>. Entertainment for the evening also
includes two local <i>a cappella</i> groups, <br>
The Papas and the Mamas in their fourth "A Time To Shine" appearance,
and Custom Blend. There will <br>
also be instrumental and dance performances by talented parents and
teachers, and a special appearance by <br>
the CCHS Select Chorus.
Admission for the evening is $25 per person and includes dessert and <br>
entertainment. Raffle tickets for a wide array of prizes will be
